What these numbers mean
Every figure here comes from daily challenges that players chose to post to the leaderboard. Games played privately, and daily challenges completed without opting in, are not counted — so treat these as a sample of the community rather than a census of everyone who plays.
Average score is the mean across posted dailies, out of a possible 9,000. A player who guesses the right continent every time and gets the standing status right about half the time tends to land somewhere in the middle of that range.
The hardest building of the day is whichever of today’s five buildings players missed by the widest average distance. It is usually not the most obscure one — it is the one that looks convincingly like it belongs somewhere else. A Portuguese-influenced church in Goa, a Soviet-era tower in Central Asia, or a colonial railway station in South America will beat an obscure ruin, because the ruin gets a cautious guess while the familiar-looking building gets a confident wrong one.
Total distance adds up how far every guess landed from its building. It grows quickly: five rounds of average-quality guessing adds several thousand kilometres on its own.
Standing accuracy is how often players correctly judge whether a building still stands, stands only in part, or is gone entirely. This is the part of the game that rewards knowing history rather than geography, and it is reliably the harder half.
How the data is handled
These aggregates contain no personal information. Individual leaderboard entries are deleted after 30 days; only the anonymous daily summaries and running totals computed from them are kept, which is why the all-time numbers survive while the entries behind them do not.
